Thanks! I’m pretty good at hearing Peet and Chris say smart stuff like that and repeating it!
I’ll chime in considering I’ve been using them the longest!
Personally, I like securing my devices to the canopy trellis supports. Placing the device within the canopy instead of the wall gives you the most accurate data about what your plants are feeling.
Something important to consider is the effect certain types of light can have on these readings. Although the Pulse device is well-ventilated and white/reflective, exposing it directly to the intense lights in the center of the canopy will contribute to self-heating and artificially high readings. So bottom line here is keep it in/near the canopy without cooking them under your HIDs !
I’ve also noticed many users actually hanging the devices in the canopy using the cord. Very creative and I’ve even started doing this in my tents as well! That said, it was not designed to mount upside-down like that and doing so will dramatically reduce it’s weatherproofing so you need to be conscious of this when applying foliar sprays, etc.
Quick question. So by mid height of the canopy, do you mean right between the top and the bottom of the canopy? Or just middle between canopy and lights? Sorry if this sounds like a stupid question.
I personally have it right at the height of the canopy, basically just barely touching the leaves, and raise it as the canopy rises and starts to obscure the “eyes” on the front of the device.
I am getting a low light warning after attaching the unit to a wall. What is the pulse using as a baseline for light output? Is it overall light intensity or is it spectrum specific. I’m using 2000 W equivalent LEDs.
Hi Jonty. You can adjust your light threshold settings in the app. It’s overall light intensity, so you should just figure out what’s a normal “lights on” level for you, and a normal “lights off” level, and set your alerts for that.
